Oh my goodness. We got the Xbox One for Christmas last year and from that day forward, my kids have been stalking IGN, Twitter, all kinds of forums, an the sweet guys at our favorite GameStop location for any hint at a release date for Minecraft. It’s been a long wait and finally there is news! This morning, 4J Studios tweeted this:
The Xbox One version will be released on “an unspecified date” in August.
Joy! The wait is almost over!
As a parent, I will state right now that after this long wait and the years of love my kids have put into this game, I will give them many, many guilt-free hours in front of the TV as they create new and wonderful things in their Minecraft worlds.
What’s extra awesome and (in my opinion) has made the wait worthwhile:
If you already bought the 360 version Minecraft from the Live Marketplace or on disc, you won’t be paying the full price of $19.99 when the Xbox One version is released. It will only cost you $4.99!
Annnnd and annnnnddd if you have worlds saved in the 360 edition, you can import them into the Xbox One edition.
I found this out at Epoch News. For more details on not only Xbox One version, but also PS3, PS Vita, and PS4, check out this article.
Oh, you want a pair of Minecraft shoes like the ones at the top of this post? Check out my tutorial on how to make them. Alex has long since outgrown his and I have a feeling we may be making another pair or three before the release in August to help pass the time and feed the excitement.
In the meantime, will you be giving your kids the news or are you going to let it be a surprise when the big day comes in August? Do you play Minecraft with your kids? I confess….I don’t. I love seeing what they build, but I’ve played it very little. I will admit, though, to the many, many hours I spend playing Titanfall, Call of Duty Ghosts, and Call of Duty Black Ops II Zombies. Titanfall is my #1 love, but I play COD with Alex every single night before bed.
